Something you don't hear every day
I remain positive. We are seeing the greatest global economic boom in my 40 years of investing. You'd have to go back to the 19th century, when the Industrial Revolution was rolling through the West, for something comparable. Today the mature economies like Japan, the U.S., and Europe are growing. China and India continue to roll forward at high rates. Then you've got smaller economies in Eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America growing rapidly too.
--Fund manager Ken Heebner of CGM Funds, from a Fortune interview. Heebner is a guy to watch (and a guy to watch indefinitely; given what he says about vacations, I can't imagine him retiring soon). I've just browsed through his funds' reports, and they're full of great companies to research. Sounds like another of those better-than-the-index fund managers I've heard so little about.
