I'm not one to evangelize

And I'd hate to turn this blog into anything tech-centric -- I'm a bit of a neoluddite, who longs for the good old days of FORTRAN, BASIC, and computers that were, if not hostile, at least uncomfortable with the notion that they had to deal with you. However, I've found a great tool that might help accomplish what I've set out to do with this blog: Create as much cross-fertilization as possible between investors who wouldn't normally be on speaking terms.

It's a program called StumbleUpon, an extension for the Firefox browser, which sends you to random sites approved by people with similar interests to your own. Pretty invaluable, especially for the polymath-on-the-go who wants to find an online community for a given interest without all that effort. So, get StumbleUpon and start stumbling!

I kind of wonder, with Firefox picking up steam as an alternative to MSFT's IE, how long will it be before hackers start looking for Firefox vulnerabilities? When I see software plug-ins like this, I think maybe Firefox is picking up steam, and the hacker-evil-doers can't be far behind...

Just a thought.

I like Kinja.com for aggregating and then potentially sharing sites...

Very true, unfortunately. The good news about Firefox is that their user community usually finds bugs fast, and since it's open-source they can get a pretty easy fix. Of course, that's where popularity becomes a problem -- most Internet users, myself included, don't check Firefox's homepage constantly for vulnerability fixes and updates. So far, Firefox has been lucky enough not to face any viruses. They can't stay lucky forever, but they certainly can stay smart.
